Stuck in the school system

Our last post, which looked at a paper written by Paul Hillsdon, picked up on what Paul saw as the problems of students only focusing on grades.

This response to the animations from Jake picks up on this and demonstrates the problems he has following his passion in a system focused on getting grades.

“Being in high school myself, I try to apply the concepts of both born to learn, and unschooling, while I remain stuck in the school system. My primary goal is to learn, to learn and learn and learn, and to find what I’m passionate about and follow it. This has lead to a lot of resistance, “bad” grades, and people telling me I’m screwing up my life. I fear that mindset makes it very difficult for any teenagers to focus on anything other than grades.”

Thanks to Jake for sharing his experience. You can share your stories and responses to our animations here.
